North Brunswick News is a new local news initiative from the team behind The News Reporter, a family-owned community newspaper that has served Columbus County since 1896. Owned and operated by Justin and Rachel Smith, The News Reporter focuses on fair, consistent coverage of local government, schools, public safety and community life — with an emphasis on accuracy, accountability and respect for the people we cover.In mid-March, we’ll launch a twice-weekly email newsletter dedicated to northern Brunswick County, including Leland and surrounding communities. The goal is simple: provide reliable, locally focused reporting where it’s needed most. We have hired a reporter whose primary responsibility will be covering northern Brunswick County, supported by the existing newsroom and resources at The News Reporter.We believe strong local journalism helps communities function better.
